Noggerath® Centre-Flo™ CF
Lindau, Germany
The expansion of the Lindau wastewater treatment plant aims to improve treatment efficiency in the long term and ensure that hygienically safe, germ-free water is discharged into Lake Constance.
Situation
About ten years ago, the Lindau wastewater treatment plant was equipped with state-of-the-art machinery from Passavant-Geiger GmbH. Three Passavant® Multi-Rake bar Screen KUR-S were installed in the influent area, supplemented by two Noggerath® spiral conveyors SC, which transfer the screenings to two Noggerath® wash presses NWP. In addition, a Noggerath® grit washer GWC was installed to ensure efficient sand treatment. Over the years, the system has proven itself through its high operational reliability, robust technology, and low maintenance requirements. The operator’s satisfaction with the existing screening system formed the basis for continued collaboration:
Project 2023 – Expansion as part of the major “Wastewater Treatment Plant” project 2040“
As part of the strategic “Sewage Treatment Plant 2040” project, Passavant-Geiger GmbH was once again awarded a partial contract in 2023. As part of the renovation, three Noggerath® Centre-Flo™ 600-900 featuring innovative Hex-Panel technology were installed.
As part of the project, the traditional wastewater treatment plant is undergoing a fundamental conversion into a modern membrane bioreactor system to meet the growing demands of 21st-century water management. The focus is on the elimination of micropollutants and the reduction of resistant pathogens, whose presence in wastewater is steadily increasing.
The Noggerath® Centre-Flo™ band screen, with its innovative fine-screening technology, provides the ideal technical foundation for this demanding process. Following mechanical pre-treatment, the sand trap, and the primary clarifier, the Centre-Flo™ is strategically installed upstream of the fourth and fifth treatment stages.
The wastewater treatment plant now has five treatment stages, with the membrane bioreactor serving as the fifth and most refined stage. Since membrane technology requires a pore size of just 1 mm, upstream fine screening is absolutely essential. The third screen ensures the necessary redundancy and guarantees consistently reliable operation.
The fine solids retained by the Noggerath® Centre-Flo™ band screen are discharged into a collection tank via a flushing channel. Thanks to the hydraulic advantages of the Hex-Panel with 1 mm perforations, the required throughput was fully achieved.
Benefits
- Strict separation of the clean and dirty sides - reliably prevents the backflow of solids
- No buildup on drive components - thanks to the internal screen belt design and the protected mechanical components
- Wear-resistant, chainless guide and drive links - reduce maintenance requirements and extend service life
- Excellent access to the drive - facilitates inspection and maintenance
- Specially designed, thick panels - minimize hair entanglement and improve operational safety
- Optional integrated emergency overflow – provides additional operational safety during hydraulic surges
Honeycomb screen elements with up to 90% open area – ensuring high hydraulic efficiency while providing fine separation
