Wastewater Treatment Plant Offenbach an der Queich, Germany (12,200 PE)

Situation

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Offenbach a. d. Queich, situated in the East of the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland Palatinate, purifies the wastewater of the Municipality of Offenbach a. d. Queich. The plant is currently loaded with about 12,200 PE.

Challenge

Along with an efficient, load-dependent and flexible control system, another specific requirement was the smooth and simple operation of the controller software.

  • Straightforward, logical and easy to operate
  • Clear and simple setting parameters
  • Release of PLC storage capacity

Solution

The special feature of this project was that both the feed structure and the pump feed and reaction basin were designed as sheet pile structures. Special solutions had to be found for connecting the machines to these trapezoidal wall sections. In addition, the galvanic separation between the stainless steel machines and the normal steel sheet pile walls had to be carefully planned and executed to avoid later corrosion damage.

Advantages

  • Efficient and reliable control of the biological purification process based on Fuzzy Logic
  • Flexible - can be adapted to local conditions
  • Various straightforward setting options are possible directly from the Aqualogic® controller
  • Considerably simpler and easier to operate in comparison with the previously used controller software
  • Space reclamation on the PLC and release of automation technology
